I been looking forward to seeing these pics. Kool-Kustom is a website I have kept my eye on for many years. There is this fleetline I always wanted to see how it turned out. Well here it is.

Check out this 1950 chevrolet fleetline owned by Robert H. I like the clean grill treatment, one piece bumpers, lowering job and yet retains the stock stainless trim. Nice build all around.

The 1950 Fleetline Deluxe models were considered six passenger cars.

These new Deluxe 1950 Chevrolet 2 door and 1950 Chevy 4 door models were the mid-priced Chevy cars, along with the 1950 Styleline Deluxe. With the 1950 Bel Air and 1950 Bel Air Convertible being the higher priced cars.

A 2 Door Fleetline Deluxe sold for $1482.00 with the 1950 Chevrolet 4 door selling for almost $50.00 more at $1529.00. 1950 Chevy Deluxe 2 and 4 door sedans were priced exactly the same. Only the 1950 Bel Air, 1950 Station Wagon and 1950 Convertible cost more.

To dress up the Styleline Deluxe and Fleetline Deluxe models a stainless side trim and “Deluxe” script were installed on the front fender and front door along with chrome gravel guards on rear fenders.

In addition stainless windshield and rear window reveal moldings were found on the Deluxe models. The moldings outlined the windshield and rear window glass and followed the top curve of the doors and quarter windows on sedans and coupes. Deluxe models were equipped with fender skirts that also improved their looks. White wall tires were available at an addition cost.

Describing the 1950 Fleetline Deluxe, Chevrolet advertising called this car… “The Ride That Is New” and “Smooth… is everyone’s word for the companionable Chevrolet…Also Comfortable…also Convenient!”

Another Fleetline Deluxe ad claimed… “New Chevrolets feature smarter styling, improved performance and a really sensational new driving development”.

The model number 2153 4 door sedan Fleetline Deluxe cost $1529.00 with a production figure of 124,287 units. Slightly more 2 door sedans (model number 2152) were produced than the 4 door Fleetline Deluxe. With a production figure of 189,509 that was 5 times more Fleetline Deluxe units than Fleetline Specials. Also referred to as a 1950 Chevrolet Fastback.

Mustang 2 Installation 1949-1954 Chevy Car. Steps required to install mustang 2 in a 49-54 chevrolet. The conversion is simple with the proper tools and the proper kit.

I choose the Fat Man Fabrication kit for my 1950 chevy.
Reasons I choose this kit:
Quality Crossmember
Ultra low option
Free stainless polished tubular a-arms.
Big Brakes

Here are some of the steps involved to installing a Fat Man Ultra-Low Mustang 2 kit. (Assuming you already have the engine removed)

1. Remove Stock Sheet Metal.
2. Level Frame
3. Mark Axle Centerline.
4. Brace Frame.
5. Remove Stock Suspension.
6. Clean Frame.
7. Tack Weld Crossmember.
8. Check Crossmeber is level.
9. Final Weld Crossmember.
10. Setup Spring Hats.
11. Tack Weld Spring hats.
12. Re-Check Fit of Spring Hats.
13. Final Weld Spring Hats.
14. Install Rack and Mark for C-Notch.
15. Cut for C-Notch.
16. Tack Weld C-Notch.
17. Test Fit IFS Componenets and Check Clearance of rack within c-notch.
18. Remove IFS Components.
19. Final Weld C-notch.
20. Paint and Re-Assemble.
21. Cut Inner Fenders.
22. Hook-Up Steering.

In order to make everything easier I removed the entire front sheetmetal. You can keep the grill, radiator support, and fenders bolted together and remove the front assembly as a whole. After removing the front fender and motor, On my 50 there was a few brackets on the frame that needed to be removed in order to install the mustang2.

FRONT SUSPENSION OPTIONS

I have asked around for feedback and pros/cons of various mustang II crossmembers and hub-to-hub tubular A-Arm Kits. After reading/researching on the H.A.M.B. I read about tubular a-arm failures from Heidts.
